British professional standards. Attorney-level protection on the ground.

Two-Director Board UK Office, Oxfordshire 15-Year Attorney, Sri Lanka

A Convergence of Finance, Law, and Bicultural Mastery

Leorah Ceylon Travels is governed by a two-director board that deliberately pairs UK-based commercial leadership with Sri Lanka-based legal stewardship. This structure ensures that every client journey is professionally costed and managed in the United Kingdom while being legally supervised, ethically sourced, and operationally executed in Sri Lanka.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer Harshika Siva Subramaniam represents an extraordinary convergence of professional financial expertise, legal acumen, and profound bicultural intelligence. As a UK passport holder, professionally qualified accountant, and LLB degree holder, she brings a level of business sophistication and legal understanding that fundamentally distinguishes Leorah Ceylon Travels from conventional tourism providers.

Her hands-on experience curating gem-focused journeys across Ratnapura's mining region, licensed dealer showrooms in Colombo and Beruwala, and certified lapidary workshops is matched by deep knowledge of Ceylon tea heritage — from estate operations and orthodox processing to cupping standards and terroir variations — making her one of very few operators able to authentically present Sri Lanka's two flagship heritage industries side by side.

The CEO's Pillars of Excellence

The credentials, expertise, and bicultural fluency that position Leorah Ceylon Travels as uniquely qualified to lead Sri Lankan tourism for the discerning UK market

Professional Accounting — Business & Pricing Integrity

Harshika's professional accounting qualification transforms tourism operations from informal arrangements into a professionally managed enterprise. Her expertise in financial analysis, cost management, pricing strategy, and margin optimisation ensures precise tour costing, transparent client communications, and accounting standards that build confidence among British travellers accustomed to established businesses.

LLB Legal Understanding — Contract & Consumer Protection

Her LLB degree brings critical legal understanding to tourism operations, from contract law and liability management to consumer protection regulations and international travel law. Together with the in-house legal oversight of co-director Amila Egodamahawatta in Sri Lanka, this ensures comprehensive insurance, professionally drafted terms, and full compliance with both UK and Sri Lankan tourism regulations.

Gem & Tea Industry Expertise — Authentic Specialist Depth

Harshika has built substantial hands-on experience in Sri Lanka's gem tourism sector, personally curating journeys across Ratnapura, Colombo, and Beruwala, and certified lapidary workshops. Her accounting background proves uniquely valuable: she guides clients through valuation principles, certification standards, and fair pricing — the single most important consumer protection in the gem trade — matched by deep Ceylon tea knowledge across the island's elevation zones.

Bicultural Mastery — The Ultimate Competitive Advantage

Harshika's Sinhala-Tamil mixed heritage, combined with her upbringing in Sri Lankan culture and subsequent UK citizenship, creates a bicultural fluency impossible to replicate. She understands British expectations and service standards from lived experience, while her Sri Lankan heritage provides authentic cultural knowledge, multilingual capability, and community access — enabling tour design that maximises immersion while maintaining comfort and safety.

Tamil Diaspora Access — Privileged Strategic Positioning

The UK's Tamil diaspora community, estimated at over 200,000 individuals, represents an underserved premium segment with strong emotional connections to Sri Lanka. Harshika's Tamil heritage provides privileged access through community organisations, cultural associations, and family networks that conventional operators cannot penetrate — enabling culturally sensitive heritage roots journeys for travellers who book longer, larger family trips.
