Our Story

Where British professional excellence meets Sri Lankan legal expertise and the island's two greatest treasures

Ceylon Gems Ceylon Tea UK-Sri Lanka Governance
2025

Where It All Began

Leorah Ceylon Travels was born from a simple conviction: that Sri Lanka's two most treasured exports — Ceylon gems and Ceylon tea — deserve to be experienced with the professional integrity, legal protection, and authentic access that conventional tourism operators simply cannot offer.

Established in 2025 with a registered office in Farringdon, Oxfordshire and a Sri Lankan operations centre in Kadawatha, the company is a distinctive convergence of British professional excellence, Sri Lankan legal expertise, and profound mastery of the island known to ancient traders as Ratna-Dweepa, the Island of Gems. What distinguishes it from the proliferation of tourism operators across South Asia is a unique dual-director governance structure spanning two continents.

Founder and CEO Harshika Siva Subramaniam — a UK passport holder, qualified accountant, and LLB degree holder — leads strategic operations from the United Kingdom, while Director and Company Secretary Amila Egodamahawatta, a practising Attorney at Law and Notary Public with fifteen years of experience, anchors ground operations and legal compliance in Sri Lanka. This twin-office, twin-expertise model delivers professional assurance, contractual integrity, and operational reliability that single-operator tourism businesses cannot match.

The Journey

Milestones in the Making

From foundation to the UK's definitive Ceylon gem and tea tourism specialist

The Vision

Two Treasures, One Professional Standard

Years of hands-on gem journey curation across Ratnapura, Colombo, and Beruwala, combined with deep Ceylon tea knowledge, reveal a gap in the market: international travellers, most vulnerable to misrepresentation in the gem trade, have no operator combining authentic specialist access with genuine professional and legal protection.

2025

Leorah Ceylon Travels Founded — Dual-Jurisdiction Structure

The company is established with a UK registered office in Oxfordshire and a Sri Lankan operations centre in Kadawatha. A two-director professional board pairs a UK qualified accountant and LLB holder as Founder & CEO with a Sri Lankan Attorney at Law and Notary Public as Director & Company Secretary.

2025

NGJA-Aligned Gem Framework & Digital Platform

The NGJA-aligned licensed dealer, mine, and lapidary partner network is built under attorney-supervised compliance, alongside the launch of a multilingual booking platform, a 24/7 WhatsApp concierge, and digital gem certification records.

2026

Gem & Tea Twin Treasures & the 24-Package Collection

The signature dual specialism launches, uniting Sri Lanka's two legendary heritage industries. Twenty-four professionally designed packages are developed, led by the Ceylon Sapphire Trail and Gems & Tea Twin Treasures, spanning gem, tea, heritage, wildlife, wellness, beach, adventure, medical, and diaspora verticals.

2027 – 2028

Market Deepening & Vertical Expansion

Penetration of the UK Tamil diaspora market, launch of the medical tourism hub with accredited hospital partnerships, UK jewellery and tea retailer co-marketing, and pursuit of Travelife, EarthCheck, and Green Tourism certifications, with expansion into Ireland, Germany, and France.

2029 – 2030 →

Market Leadership & Premium Segments

Establishment as the recognised UK market leader in Ceylon gem, tea, and heritage tourism, scaling the UHNW bespoke segment, launching a corporate and MICE division, beginning North American market entry, and building thought leadership through published guides and conference speaking.

The Founding Vision

Three Forces, One Purpose

The convergence that makes Leorah Ceylon Travels impossible to replicate

British Professional Excellence

Harshika Siva Subramaniam — Qualified Accountant & LLB

Financial sophistication and legal understanding transform tourism from informal arrangements into a professionally managed enterprise: precise costing, transparent pricing, comprehensive insurance, and consumer protection that British travellers expect.

Sri Lankan Legal Stewardship

Amila Egodamahawatta — Attorney at Law & Notary Public

Fifteen years at the bar bring attorney-level governance to the ground in Sri Lanka: every supplier and client contract drafted and enforced, gem trade compliance supervised, and on-island legal support available throughout every journey.

Authentic Heritage Mastery

Gem & tea specialist depth across two industries

Genuine, verifiable access to Sri Lanka's two flagship heritage industries — from Ratnapura's gem pits to the high-grown tea gardens — delivered together as signature Twin Treasures programming no competitor occupies.

What Sets Us Apart

The Leorah Difference

Professional Assurance Both Ends

Clients contract with a professionally managed UK company and are received in Sri Lanka by an operation under the direct legal supervision of a fifteen-year attorney. Financial integrity in the UK; legal integrity on the ground.

Twin Treasures Specialisation

The only UK-based operator structured, credentialed, and connected to deliver both Ceylon gem and tea tourism at specialist depth within a single seamless journey, with certified, attorney-supervised gem purchases.

Bicultural & Ethical Foundation

Sinhala-Tamil heritage opens privileged diaspora access, while board-level human rights leadership ensures fair labour, ethical gem sourcing, and tourism that genuinely benefits Sri Lankan communities.

What We Are

More Than a Tour Operator

Leorah Ceylon Travels embodies the convergence of qualified financial expertise, attorney-level legal stewardship, and authentic mastery of Sri Lanka's gem and tea heritage — delivered for travellers who seek substance beyond beaches.

We are British professional standards meeting Sri Lankan authenticity. We are certified gem access meeting genuine ethical sourcing. We are commercial precision meeting the lived bicultural wisdom needed to bridge two nations.

"Gem and tea tourism are natural companions: both occupy the same spectacular geography, both tell the story of Sri Lanka's heritage, and both appeal to the same discerning traveller — curious, quality-conscious, and seeking substance beyond beaches."
